First an ice cream treat (please do not look at the nutritional information on the page - just consider the perfection of the combination, second only to PB and chocolate);
Second, after not having tuned to MTV since the days when the Real World season # was in the single digits (we're at 17 if you're counting), I am now hooked on Engaged & Underage (to be specific, the I Do Remix). While it's sad to witness the delusion these couples are preserving for strategic use by their respective divorce attorneys, it's also an entertaining combination of Bridezilla and an ABC After School Special. I have watched two episodes (so far). A Christian couple, 20 years old. Husband to be is a closeted gay (trust me) mama's boy and therefore jerk; wifey repeatedly looks directly into the camera asking her 40-year-old self what in the world she is thinking. Too bad her brother who's to walk her down the aisle and has strong objections didn't show up til the last minute because of the gnarly waves he couldn't pass up. Now I'm watching two 18 year-olds, parents of two, who are screaming-fighting like 18 year olds would fight (go figure) over things like whether the groom should go to a strip club or not (he settles for getting annihilated instead - remember, it's Engaged & Underage). Oh, and as a wedding present, the wife secretly starts birth control (better late than never you say, but I say, is sterilization an option?) oooo.... and these gems from their blog:
"Knock" on wood we have not fought yet and that feels great. I think since we are married now I really have nothing to worry about. I never did but now its official so nothing can stop us.My overall response to the Engaged and Underage topic is these are rather elaborate weddings for teenagers. Did they consider having the reception at Senior Prom? Also, I'm not passing judgment on young marriage wholesale - just the type who showcase it on MTV. Is that not inviting failure? And I'm done.
Not to much has changed since the wedding, but our life was a married life before. I can say this: Ashley's attitude, and the sex life....WOW...complete turn around.
UPDATE: The high-maintenance army-wife-to-be in ep #3 is having a conniption.

On the ice cream usa link, I like that the "U" licks his/her lips whenever you move your pointer over it.
Last night I hesitated for a second on "I Do Remix" and Matt quickly leaned over, said "Let me help you with that," and hit the channel up button.
I got sucked into Engaged and Underage this spring. And I thought I was the only person in the world who actually went to the blog. Glad (I think) to hear I wasn't. The army wife is the only one who gets support on the blog (or was when I checked it) - in the comments, everyone says the meanest things about the other couples. I think MTV is genius. With that show, Real World, Sweet Sixteen, etc., they never praise or condemn the subjects overtly - you as an audience member can decide how you feel about the couples. I found myself cringing that each couple was getting married and YET found myself TEARING UP (no joke) at a couple of the weddings during the vow part. It was a low tv-watching time for me. Very confusing.
